Our Story
Independent Electric Bikes journalism, ride-tested.
We exist because the Electric Bikes's marketing copy and your actual experience are two very different documents. We're trying to close that gap, one tested mile at a time.
§ 01 — Mission
Our Mission
eBike Revolt was founded on a simple premise: a major purchase deserves real scrutiny. Range claims should be measured, not marketed. Performance should be charted, not adjectived. Long-term reliability should be tracked across seasons, not assumed from a press junket.
We're a small, independent newsroom. We don't run banner ads from the brands we cover. We don't accept loaner products with strings attached. We publish our methodology in full so you can audit our work.
§ 02 — Methodology
How we test
Every product that earns a verdict on this site has been used for a minimum of forty hours, across multiple conditions and rider profiles. We test in the rain. We test in the cold. We test the products we want to recommend, and we test the ones we suspect we won't.
- 01
Hands-on testing
Every product gets minimum forty hours of real-world use across multiple riders, conditions, and use cases. Manufacturer claims rarely survive contact with reality.
- 02
Performance under load
We measure what matters: range, power, durability. Each product is pushed past comfortable use to where the real differences emerge.
- 03
Comfort & ergonomics
Long-haul use across commute, casual, and edge-case scenarios. We log fatigue, fit, vibration, and how products behave hour eight versus hour one.
- 04
Safety & build quality
Stress tests, build inspection, electrical and mechanical components verified. We pull connectors, check welds, and meter every claim.
§ 03 — Standards
Editorial standards
The five rules every story passes through before publication. No exceptions, no carve-outs, no “just this once.”
- We buy or borrow every product we review. Manufacturers do not get review copy approval — ever.
- We disclose any relationship with a brand at the top of every article, including loaners and PR-arranged demos.
- We do not accept sponsored placements, paid rankings, or pay-to-play "best of" inclusions.
- Affiliate links never change a verdict. Our "Not Recommended" picks have affiliate links too — and we still tell you not to buy them.
- Corrections are dated, signed, and left visible at the bottom of the article. We do not stealth-edit.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on eBike Revolt are affiliate links — we earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This funds the testing and the salaries of the people who do it. It does not change our verdicts. See our full methodology →
